“Let’s Be Friends” by OPI

You may not know this about me, but my first love before makeup and fashion was actually nail polish. It was my passion for polish that actually led me to my first experience with blogging (via Tumblr).

Over the past 6 years or so, I have collected (hoarded) polishes from all different brands, including OPI, Essie, Deborah Lippmann, and more recently Kiko. My collection, which is proudly displayed on several shelves in my bedroom, contains over 100 polishes; not sure that’s something to be proud of or slightly embarrassed about (how many shades of blue polish does one person really need?), but alas, it is what it is.

All that being said, I thought it only made sense to bring my love of polishes to this blog in the original form which I published years ago on my Tumblr page. Back in 2011, I had to combine two passions of mine: traveling and nail polish. From there was born this collection of photos from all around the world, showcasing not only my beloved polishes, but also the beautiful places I had the opportunity to travel to.

For whatever reason, I stopped doing this sometime in 2013, but I’ve decided to bring it back to life!

So for my first polish post on this blog I am showcasing one of the newer additions to my collection in an absolutely stunning location.

“Let’s Be Friends” from the Hello Kitty by OPI collection photographed in Angsana Velavaru, Maldives.

This collection was released in Spring this year, and as soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to have at least some key colors from the collection, this one being one of them. As much as I love nail polish, I also have an adult obsession with Hello Kitty; I mean how could you not considering just how cute she is!

Cuteness aside, this polish is one of the newest to my collection, but has quickly become one of my favorites. I thought that wearing this cotton candy pink shade on vacation would be a bad idea, considering chips would show immediately, but I was gladly mistaken. With the help of my trusty Seche-Vite top coat, this polish lasted nicely throughout my 1-week stay in the Maldives.

The formula is quite opaque and goes on smoothly. In these photos I’m wearing a base coat, 2 coats of the polish itself, finished with a top coat. I thought that such a pale pink would look too white against my dark complexion, but I really can say that this polish would suit all skin tones, all year long.

I have a couple of the other OPIxHello Kitty collection polishes. Let me know if you got your hands on them too, and if you would like to see photos of the others in this same style! And let me know if any of you out there are also polish-addicts like me!
