The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

Let’s be real, whether you are single or in a relationship, Valentine’s Day is always full of overly romanticized expectations that can never be met. That’s why I decided to put together this post listing all the ways I plan to enjoy my Valentine’s Day this year as a single girl, because no one wants to be that one meme of a lonely girl, sat on the couch in her sweats, crying over a bowl of popcorn while watching The Notebook for the sixth time in row. Am I right? So even if you have a significant other to spend February 14th with, or if you are like me and enjoying the single life, I hope my Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day can give you some inspiration for this Hallmark holiday!

Treat Yourself to Something New

While I don’t think stuff can replace the company of someone you care about, I personally feel excited and happy whenever I make a new purchase. That’s why I think every girl should treat herself to something new, either in preparation for Valentine’s or on the day itself. It could be that pair of shoes you’ve been lusting after for a while now, or some new stationary, the possibilities are endless, but why not take this opportunity to get yourself something special. For me that meant treating myself to some new lingerie pieces. If you’ve seen my previous hauls, you will already know that I have a special obsession with all things undergarment related. I just love adding new pieces to my collection, and yes it is quite an extensive collection at this point, and I’m not ashamed one bit. If you want to see all the lacy bits I picked up from Intimissimi, Oysho, and H&M, then check out my recent haul I did over on my YouTube channel.

Make Plans with Friends

In order to avoid spending the night alone at home, why not get together with your single friends and make some fabulous plans? Hey, maybe even your friends in a relationship aren’t partaking in special V-day plans with their beaus and may be up to joining in on the fun as well! Do your best to gather up your best pals and organize a dinner together, go out dancing, or even have a night in filled with face masks, girl-talk, and endless romcoms. There’s no shame as long as you don’t feel lonely and you’re enjoying yourself!

Indulge a Little

I know I already spoke about treating yourself to something new, but personally, one of my favorite parts of this holiday is all the sweets that go along with it! Why not pick up a box of chocolates, or a special bottle of wine to go with your special gal-pal Valentine’s plans? I decided to whip up some chocolate covered strawberries as a personal treat. Strawberries and chocolate are a match made in heaven in my opinion, and I also find that they are super simple and quick to make at home.

Remember that You Are Enough

Lastly, I just wanted to remind everyone out there, single or taken, that YOU are enough. None of us should be searching for happiness from a relationship or from another person. We are all amazing, unique human beings and just because you have to spend February 14th among friends instead of a lover does not make you any less special or significant. Happiness comes from within ourselves. And in case you are looking for a way to remind yourself what makes you happy, check out this blog post I did about how I remind myself to be grateful everyday.
