How I Style 50 Shades of Grey

I’ve recently noticed a certain color trend in my wardrobe – grey. With the new movie out today, I felt inspired to put together this post on how I personally style 50 Shades of Grey, or at least two or three ;).

Grey: My Version of Black

For whatever reason, most of the fashion pieces I’ve recently bought or just been loving in general have been from the same color family. As someone who loves bright colors, pastels, and prints, winter time can be a bit of a downer for me. I own very few clothing pieces which are black, and I personally never tend to wear monochrome outfits, especially when it’s black with black. So I guess grey has become my version of black – something neutral and easy to pair with other colors. Keep scrolling to see how I’ve been wearing grey this winter season.

A Punch of Mustard Yellow

Like black, I feel that grey tones can go with absolutely anything. In this first outfit, I paired a dark grey turtleneck from Uniqlo with a mustard velvet skirt from Brandy Melville (similar here), and a pair of grey tights. To finish the outfit, I topped it with a grey bowler-style hat with houndstooth detailing, and a simple pair of black booties. At first glance I’m sure it looks like a lot of grey going on all at once, but by adding in a punch of the mustard yellow, it helps to break up the monochromaticity.

What is your favorite color for your winter wardrobe? Are you more of an “all-black-everything” kinda person, or do you like injecting some color into your outfits now and then like I do? Also, have any of you seen the new 50 Shades Darker movie? I’m dying to see it, especially now with my recent addiction to Grey 😉
