If you’ve been following along, you’ll already know that I’ve been toting my nail polish with me on my travels for many years now. It even goes further back then what I have published on this blog. Back in the days of Tumblr I had shared many more nail polish travel photos from when I was in university. This review of OPI “Stranger Tides” reminds me of those days for a very particular reason.
First, about the polish. “Stranger Tides” has been part of my collection for ages now. I remember it being released along with the other shades from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection back in the days when I followed every collection release. I’m glad I got my hands on it because since it’s release I feel it’s one of the most used shades in any nail art look. Besides its overall popularity, it is also a beautiful, creamy polish. It’s very easy to apply. The slight green tint makes it softer and more wearable than a stark white. Other photos of it that I’ve seen online make it seem like a camouflage green, but on my skin tone I find it to be quite pale.
Back to story time. If you saw my recent Instagram post, then you’ll know that this photo was taken during the most difficult hike of my life. Back in January 2020 I visited Micronesia, a small island nation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Have you ever experienced 100% humidity? Well I have! Not only was it a super steep, muddy, and treacherous hike, but also so humid that I could hardly breathe! To say that I was dripping sweat would be a serious understatement. It will still an unforgettable experience to say the least! The fact that I hauled my camera and nail polish all the way shows just how dedicated I am to this series on my blog/Instagram. 🙂

Stranger Tides comes with the famous OPI ProWide Brush that is wider (duh!) than your typical nail-polish brush. It picks up a lot of polish and covers more of your nail at one time, so you can give yourself a manicure faster. You ll also reduce how many times you have to dip your brush back in to get more lacquer.
